KOREAN SMARTPHONE VENDOR Samsung has announced two budget Android smartphones, the Galaxy Ace 2 and Galaxy Mini 2.

The two additions to the ever growing Galaxy family of smartphones and tablets have been unveiled before next week’s Mobile World Congress (MWC). The almost indistinguishable pair will be available in April.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2

Simon Stanford, UK managing director of telecommunications and networks at Samsung said, “The Galaxy Ace and Galaxy Mini have both been hugely successful handsets for us since they launched last year so we’re excited to be bringing our customers refreshed versions of both devices.”

The Galaxy Ace 2 is the more kitted out with an 800MHz dual-core processor, 768MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a 5MP rear facing camera and a 3.8in touchscreen.

Samsung Galaxy Mini 2

Unsurprisingly the Galaxy Mini 2 is the smaller of the duo with a 3.2in touchscreen. It will have an 800MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and a 3MP rear facing camera.

Both will come with Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread and standard technology like WiFi, Bluetooth and microSD card slots.

“Anyone who buys one of these new devices will benefit from even more functionality, including improved processing speeds so they can quickly connect to and browse the internet when they’re out shopping, travelling to work or out with friends.”

Samsung announced the second version of its first tablet, the Galaxy Tab. We expect all the devices to be on show at MWC in Barcelona where there will be no successor to the Galaxy S II.
